For the first time since releasing a pair of audio recordings that paint embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling as a racist, V. Stiviano sat down for an interview last night.
The 31-year old spoke to Barbara Walters for 20/20 and at first denied that she’s “a mistress or a whore or a woman of the night.”
Stiviano said she has served as Sterling’s personal assistant for years and that she feels badly for the 80-year old these days.
At various times, Stiviano described Sterling as “confused, very alone,” and emotionally traumatized,” and added that she wants to come “to his rescue.”
It was a bizarre back and forth, that’s for sure.
“I love him like a father figure,” Stiviano said, adding that she does NOT believe Sterling to be racist.
Stiviano told Walters that Sterling is just from a “different generation,” and was “brought up to believe” things such as “segregation.”
Yes, Sterling should “absolutely” apologize, Stiviano said, but what he said on those tapes was “not what he feels.” The remarks were made “in the heat of the moment.”
As for why Stiviano is going around town in a visor, she said it’s “easier to mask the pain” when you “see someone you care about hurting.”
The NBA has banned Sterling for life and owners will soon cast their votes that will force him to sell the team.
